Cultivating Chi with Qigong Movements, Breath, and Sound Bowls
Come explore, practice, and feel what it is like to work with Chi - a fundamental emergy ever present in the universe. Chi is known by many names, including qi, prana, and life-force energy, and has been described in pre-modern traditions such as Taoist philosophy, Indian spiritual systems, martial arts, and ancient healing practices. These cultures developed similar ways of understanding vitality, balance, and the connection between breath, body, and awareness. In this workshop, we will explore a brief introduction to the common themes shared among these traditions.
During this mini-workshop, we will explore cultivating balance and harmony through the awareness of this subtle life-force energy. With gentle movement, breathwork, and focused intention, participants will be guided through practices inspired by traditional Chinese qigong, designed to cultivate relaxation, presence, and internal awareness. These exercises emphasize slow, mindful motion and controlled breathing to help quiet the mind and bring the body into a state of balance.
The session will conclude with an extended Savasana, accompanied by a sound bath using Himalayan crystal bowls and traditional Chinese Chau gongs to encourage deep rest and a meditative state.
Please arrive a few minutes early to settle in. Please bring any props, blankets, or bolsters you need to be as comfortable as possible laying down.
